UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

At some point in life, have you wondered what true love is?

What is true love?
At some point in life, have you asked yourself “what is real love?” or “does unconditional love exist?”, someone who loves me regardless of my defects and virtues, who loves me simply because I exist?
We live in a world where it is scarce to find unconditional love. However, inside us there is a desire to love and be loved. La Biblia (The Bible) teaches us that pure and unconditional love exists and it is real. That love comes from God, because God is love.
The word love is classified into four categories:

PHILIA LOVE

It is the love based on friendship, which generates an obligation of: "I give you, you give me", it is the mutual affection between friends.

STORGE LOVE

It is the love felt for family, a natural and innate bond that is developed with family members.

EROS LOVE

It is sexual, erotic, and physical love between a couple.

AGAPE LOVE

It is divine, unconditional, and sacrificial love. It is the highest love that can exist. It is a love of choice, not affection or emotion, that seeks the well-being of the other person.

When we search for unconditional love, we are looking for AGAPE love, which only comes from God.
Love according to the Bible
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
This is the love of God, an eternal love that never separates from us, no matter what. God loves you simply because you exist. Con este amor, se complace en perdonar tus pecados. (With this love, He takes pleasure in forgiving your sins.)
If God is love why is there so much suffering in this world?
The Bible says that sin separates us from God and leads us to physical and spiritual death. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23).
Sin entered the world through disobedience and it corrupted human nature. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
But God did not leave us helpless, because His love is so great that He sent His Son to save us. Christ took our place on the cross.

Sin brings two types of death:
  • PHYSICAL DEATH: When our body ceases to exist and stops breathing.
  • SPIRITUAL DEATH: When a person is separated from God eternally due to sin. That person is condemned to the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15).
This is the condition of every human being, an eternal condemnation. But God, in His infinite love, offered a way out.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16-17).

God demonstrated His love on the cross. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). He bore our sins and received the punishment we deserved. His sacrifice gives us forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and eternal life.

Love is demonstrated with actions
God did not just say He loved us, He demonstrated it with the sacrifice of Jesus.
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” (1 John 3:16-18).
Jesus paid the price for our sins. He died for love of you (and me), he bore our guilt, and resurrected on the third day to give us eternal life. He offers you a free gift: salvation.
You don’t have to earn it, Jesus already paid for it. You just need to believe and receive it by faith. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

The love of God in action
God offers you His love, and today you can receive it. Salvation is a free gift that God gives us by His grace. It cannot be earned with good deeds, but it is received by faith.
If you want to receive the unconditional love of God, accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. God loves you and wants to give you a full and eternal life.
How to receive Salvation?
  1. Recognize that you are a sinner.
  2. Repent of your sins.
  3. Believe that Jesus died and resurrected.
  4. Confess Jesus as your Lord.
How do you do it? Romanos 10:9-10 dice:
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
Prayer of Salvation
If you want to receive this unconditional love, repeat this prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I recognize that I am a sinner and that my sins separate me from you. Today I repent of all my sins. I believe that you died on the cross for me and that you resurrected on the third day to give me eternal life. I open the door of my heart and receive you as my Lord and Savior. Direct my life, fill me with your Holy Spirit and help me live according to your word. Thank you Jesus, because today I am your child and I will be with you forever. Amen.”
